Ancient Tradition - New World

Dominican Sisters in Eastern Australia 1867 - 1958

By MacGinley, M.R. (Author)
$50.00 AUD

Sr Rosa MacGinlay traces for us an amazing journey taken in 1867 by a group of Dominican women from the community of Cabra in Ireland to Maitland in the still new colony of New South Wales to provide an education in the faith for the daughters of colonial families, both rich and poor, who might otherwise not receive such a gift.  This book tells the story of these courageous pioneer women, and those who came after them. When the book ends in 1958, the Congregation is well established, the education it provides is highly prized, and the ancient Dominican way of life has been transplanted successfully in a new land.
